Blanca Pons-Sorolla is the foremost scholar on the work of Joaquín Sorolla and has written and contributed to numerous books, including Sorolla: The Masterworks. She is the artist's great-granddaughter. She was deputy curator of the retrospective exhibition "Joaquín Sorolla (1863-1923)" held at the Prado in 2009.

The Sorolla Museum is among the best in Madrid, but his extreme popularity in his own lifetime -- and the happy captivating beauty of his work -- have meant that much of it is still in private hands and seldom seen. If you don't know him, you should! Also this book makes a great gift!
